In memoriam: Slim Young - Hilife Star from Ghana

In Spring 1989 Kojo Taylor wrote the following lines for Sipisita, Slims freshly founded group in Vienna, Austria :
Sipista , the exciting african music group is led by Slim Young, composer, arranger, guitarist and singer from Ghana. This multitalented Artist has been involved into developing african music over two decades and was at one time leader of the Black berrets Dance Band, the best and the most popular band in Ghana in the (nineteen)eighties.
Slim Young has 4 LPs to his credit namely: "Medɔto Bra ntem" (1983), " Ɔdɔ yɛdɛ" (1984), "Mafisɛm" (1985) with the hit track "Obi yɛ nadea yɛ komm", won the top charts in Ghana and was not only a hit in the West Africa region but also won the award "Talent of the Year- Music" granted by the Entertainment Critics and Reviewers Association of Ghana.
The latest LP of Slim Young, "BISA" (1987), was at the top of the charts in Ghana and is still doing well in West Africa. Radio Ghana declared Slim Young in 1987 as one of the outstanding artists in the field of music.
Slim Young's music is popular in Ghana and is often on the air in Africa.

The great Hilife Musician Slim Young from West Africa, precisely from Ghana passed away November 16th 2001 in Vienna , Austria.
A commitee of friends and musicians was organizing a mega afro party with live music and dance in Szene Wien to raise funds to donate them to the remaining relatives of Slim Young.
